The
Citizen’s Police Academy will
consist of a group of citizens from the M.C.R.P.D. Jurisdictional Area who are
interested in learning how their police department operates and the policing
challenges our community faces.
Participants in each session commit to meeting for three hours one night per
week, for nine weeks, to learn about each aspect of the police department.
The
purpose of the M.C.R.P.D. Citizen’s Police Academy is to develop positive
relations between police and community through education. The goals are to
create a growing nucleus of responsibility through well-informed citizens.
Participants will gain an appreciation of the problems and challenges facing law
enforcement and have an opportunity to offer comments and ideas regarding
solutions.
Instructors for the Citizens Police Academy
are officers and personnel from the M.C.R.P.D. who speak on their areas of
expertise, as well as specialized guest speakers.
Participants of the Citizen’s Police Academy
must be 18 years of age or older and reside in the jurisdictional boundaries of
the M.C.R.P.D.
