EMPLOYMENT BENEFITS

Employee benefits are governed by the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the Mifflin County Regional Police Board and Lewistown Police Association. The benefits listed on this page reflect the current agreement.

2005 Patrolman Entry-level Salary: $33,945
   
Medical Insurance: Fully paid, family Health America plan with BS vision, United Concordia dental, and prescription drug coverage
 
   
Life Insurance: $35,000 term life policy; $10,000 after retirement paid by employer.
 
   
Sick Leave: Earned at 1 day per month
250 days accumulation
 
  At retirement, sick leave is paid out to employee at $50 per unused day
 
   
Short-term Disability: Benefit payable for 2/3 salary for any off duty injury (26 week benefit) paid by employer.
 
   
Holidays: Nine per year

Vacation: After 1 year 1 week per year

Personal Leave: 9 days per year after 1 year of employment.
   
Compensatory Leave: Employee may elect to receive compensatory time in lieu of overtime pay with unlimited cap.
 
   
Equipment: With exception of a handgun all uniforms and equipment is provided by employer.
 
   
Pension: After 25 years of service and age 50, employee receives 70% of final three year salary average.
